The Aarikka story
Like other internationally recognised trade names, Scandinavian brand Aarikka had a humble beginning. It all started back in the 1950s when design undergraduate Kaija Aarikka was searching for some suitably stylish buttons to finish a dress she had made. Realising there was nothing quite right out there, she bought some wood and began making her own buttons. This proved to be a profitable venture and with the help of husband Erkki Ruokonen, the Aarikka Oy family business was born in 1954. |
Aarikka product range
Branching out from buttons, Aarikka designs and creates wooden and silver jewellery and Scandinavian decorative items. As well as employing its own designers, Aarikka has commissioned work by top Finnish designers including Aino Favén, Jorma Vennola, Jukka Rintala, Tuula Falck, Markku Salo, Paola Suhonen, Kalle Kuusela, Elina Helenius, Kaisli Kiuru and Saija Malila. All of whom have left their stamp on the Aarikka brand.
